Whether you're acquiring the futon as a bed or to just add a comfortable spot to better relax and enjoy a book, needlepoint or a mid-day nap, you'll love the comfort and style that our futons offer.
A complete futon consists of 3 individual components:
- Futon Frame - Generally made of wood or metal or combinations.
- Futon Mattress - A decision based on main use and individual preference.
- Futon Cover - Removable, protective and decorative.
All 3 components of a futon are independent of each other, and accordingly, can be mixed and matched according to each individuals design and style preference. Futon mattresses and covers can easily be replaced due to wear or style redecorating. Generally, the frame if maintained will last for a long time.
The futon frame is the foundation of the futon. Generally made of wood or metal or combinations of both. A poorly constructed futon frame will be difficult to convert from a couch to a bed and will be more likely to have breakage issues with it. Primary assets are strength, ease of use, and durability. There are many different arm styles and finishes to choose from.
The futon mattress is the cushion that is used for both sitting and sleeping. A good futon will be comfortable for both and will give years of sitting and sleeping pleasure. Our hi-tech pressurized foam and innerspring futon mattresses are performance tested for durability and comfort.
The final touch, the cover is the most noticeable part of the futon. It coordinates with the surrounding environments as well as protecting the futon mattress from dirt, spills, etc. Because it is removable, different covers can be used for different seasons, moods, etc.
